Basic Online Roulette Rules

Let’s start off with the basic aim of the game. The point of Roulette is to make a prediction on what number the ball will land on when it is spun on the wheel. Now let’s get the rules of the game.

First of all, use the chips you have bought and place them on the corresponding number, colour or section of the table that you wish to place your bet on. The colour of your chips will be a variation of its monetary value, meaning different chips will have a different Total Bet. As with real life Roulette, once you’ve placed your bet, you can spin the wheel. Note, that the wheel will spin in one direction and the ball will spin on the outer edge in the opposite direction.

If the ball lands on a number, colour, or section you placed your chips on, you’ve got a win. If not, then it’s a non-winning spin.

How To Play Roulette Online

1. Sign up on the online casino where you want to play Roulette and make your initial deposit.
2. In a real casino, you'd bet between rounds. But with online roulette, you can bet whenever you want and then click "spin" to make the wheel turn.
3. Before you hit "spin," you need to place your bets. As you place your bets, you should see the Total Bet change on your screen.

Online Roulette Betting Rules

Online Roulette betting is very simple. You can bet in two main ways: Inside Bets and Outside Bets. Inside Bets are about the numbers you see on the table – the black and red ones. You can put your chip on a number or between two numbers.

Outside Bets are the green sections where you bet on groups or colours. This gives you a better chance to win, but the return you get is smaller than with Inside Bets.

Now, let's look at the different types of bets you can make with Inside and Outside Bets:

Inside Bet:

• Single Number ‘Straight Bet’: Betting on a 'Single Number' means you pick just one number. If you win, you get 35 times your bet.
• 2-way ‘Split Bet’: You place your chip between two numbers, so you're betting on both. If you win, you get 17 times your bet.
• 3-way or ‘Street’: If you want to bet on a whole row of number put your chip at the end of the row, and if you win, you get 11 times your bet.
• 4-way ‘Corner’: To bet on four number, place your chip in the middle of four numbers that make a square. If you win, you get 8 times your bet.
• 6-way or ‘Six Line’: To bet on six number, put your chip between two rows at the end. If you win, you get 5 times your bet.

Outside Bet:

• Red or Black: Put your chips on either the Red or Black section on the table. If the ball lands on your chosen colour, you win the same amount you bet.
• Odds or Evens: Place your chips on either Odds or Evens and if the ball lands on your pick, you win the same amount you bet.
• Dozen: Bet on groups of 12 numbers by putting your bets in the '1st 12,' '2nd 12,' or '3rd 12' sections on the board. If you win, you double your bet.
• Column: To bet on a whole column, put your chip in the '2 to 1' section. If you win, you double your bet.
• Halves: Bet on half of the board by placing your chip on either '1-18' or '19-36.' If you win, you get back the same amount you bet.

Types of Roulette Wheels

There are three types of Roulette and two types of Roulette wheels. In American Roulette, they use a 38 pocket Roulette wheel, with numbers from 1 -36, a zero and a double zero. In French and European Roulette, they use a 37 pocket Roulette wheel, with numbers from 1-36 and a single zero. The highest number on both roulette wheels is 36.

Online Roulette Strategy

Although we can never guarantee a win, below are some ‘strategies’ used by fellow players. Although, whether they can well and truly be considered a strategy is still to be considered.

1. Martingale Strategy: it’s quite simple, every time you lose a bet, you double the next one in the hopes of recovering any losses. This would not be a recommended strategy by us at Luck, as it can lead to huge losses in the long run if things don’t work in your favour.
2. Labouchere Strategy: this strategy uses a sequence of numbers e.g. 1 2 3 4 5. You then bet the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence (in this case, 1+5=6). If you win, you cross out those two numbers from the sequence. If you lose, you add the amount you bet to the end of the sequence. You continue this process until you've crossed out all the numbers, at which point you've reached your goal. This is not a foolproof strategy by the way, and can lead to gradual losses over time.
3. D’Alembert Strategy: this strategy is based on balancing wins and losses. You start off with an initial bet e.g. £10. If you win, you increase your next bet by £1, but if you lose, then you decrease it by £1. While the D'Alembert strategy can provide some structure to betting, it doesn't guarantee success and might just lead to gradual losses over time.
4. Fibonacci Strategy: The Fibonacci betting strategy is based on the Fibonacci sequence, where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones e.g., 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13. In this strategy, you use these numbers as betting units. You start with the first two Fibonacci numbers as your initial bet e.g. £1. If you lose, you move one step forward in the sequence and bet that amount. If you win, you move two steps back. The goal is to increase wins while minimizing losses, and similar to the above, it doesn’t guarantee success.
5. Paroli Strategy: This is the opposite of the Martingale strategy. In this system, every time you win, you double your bet. It's important to set a limit and stick to it to avoid losing large sums in case of a non-winning streak.
